I've not missed blogging. And the time I've reclaimed is well spent with a few other guys in the infinitely more pleasant, personable, and practical hobby of homebrewing.
It's actually quite satisfying to drink beer you've brewed while not caring what angry and ill-informed people on the internet think.

I've actually been thinking about getting into home brewing for a couple of months now. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.
Any tips?
Beer-making is simple, rewarding, and fun. The basic ingredients are water, fermentable (malted) grain, yeast, and hops for flavor.
There are kits to buy which provide all the equipment you need. I got one as a present a few years ago and let myself get intimidated by what seemed like a confusing and complicated process. It's really not difficult. I'd start by looking locally, if possible (the equipment is bulky and shipping would be expensive). It should run around $100.
Then you can look at specific recipe kits which will have all the ingredients and instructions to get you going. Kits will run around $30 for a standard 5-gallon batch. Guys who really get into it end up mashing the grain themselves, which is even less expensive but more complicated and time-consuming.
A quick Google search uncovered a promising-looking site in Cincy - www.listermann.com. I'm more familiar with Midwest Supplies in Minneapolis. They have everything you need to get you started.
I'd also recommend www.homebrewtalk.com, a good discussion board.
And lastly, I'd recommend finding a friend or two to brew with. It's much more fun to work together and have someone to share the fruits of your labor.

Easy and fun and tasty, but then you have 5 gallons of alcohol sitting around. I don't drink enough to justify all that, so haven't even thought about brewing for over a decade.
Check around, decent chance of there being a homebrew shop near your area.

My current pet project is learning how to ride a unicycle. Home brewing may be next on the agenda.
